Registration
As the manager, you'll have to make sure all the players on your team are registered. You'll also have to register yourself as a manager.
Player Registration
The player registration process is an important and time-consuming part of the season ritual. This page outlines some planning considerations along with a link to the very informative MYRSL player registration procedures page , which provides an excellent step-by-step breakdown of the process. Here are some factors to consider:
- The Requirement: Every player must have a state-issued (laminated) card. These cards are reviewed before each game by the referee crew.
- The Lead Time: The process begins with each player completing the WYSA Player Registration form and the process ends when you've got a laminated card for each player on your roster. If you're lucky, you might be able to get this done in 2 weeks. Otherwise plan on at least four weeks. Please refer to the MYRSL link above for details on how much time to plan for.
- Form - Picture - Proof of Age: The State association ultimately requires a completed form, a 1x1 inch picture, proof of age and the players signature. Here are some hints in meeting these requirements:
- Proof of Age is satisfied using last years player cards. If you are new to competitive soccer, you'll need to submit a copy of your birth certificate.
- Signature: Players can sign their name to a small strip of paper that can be affixed to the player pass (along with the photo) before laminating.
- Drop-Off / Pick-Up: If you follow MYRSL's time-saving hints, you will need to make two trips up to the WYSA office. The first trip is to drop off all the required paperwork; the second is to pick up the player passes and attach the required signature strips and pictures before laminating. If you can't get signature strips or there's a delay with pictures, you'll be making more trips.
- Contact Person: The Racine Spartans Soccer Club is a member of the Metro District; see this page for District Registrar information.
If a player is unable to afford the registration fees, the coach or manager can write a letter explaining the situation and submit it to the board of directors. The board will review the application and decide whether or not to award a scholarship.
Manager Registration
The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) requires all team managers to register with the association by using the Player Registration form and to indicate their status of 'Manager'. Note that registering as a team manager is NOT equivalent to being issued a Manager Pass card. The Manager Pass card is issued to individuals attending a 'Manager 101' course.
